Beginner Mosaic Class
$40.00
3 1/2 hour class
You will learn how to cut glass and tile and affix it to a picture frame using your choice of designs provided by us. You will also grout your piece. You will be taught the basic rules of andamento, which is the placement of your tesserae (pieces). Substrates (what you glue your pieces onto) and adhesives will be discussed as well as simple design theory. There will be a handout to take home for future reference.
You will be taught how to mix and use grout. By the end of this class you will have a general idea of the methods and materials that are used in mosaic.
This class includes all materials and use of our equipment while you are in the studio.
This class will be taught by Mary Clark-Camargo or Dawn Mendelson.
Mosaic Basics Class or Basic Mosaic
$40.00 3 1/2 hour class
You will learn how to cut glass and tile and make a small study portrait of a subject of your choice provided by us. This class will focus on design and color theory in relation to the mosaic process. You will use the rules of andemento(placement) to make your portrait come to life. Substrates and adhesives will be discussed and you will receive a handout for your future reference. You will also learn to mix and use grout on your piece. Your mosaic will be made on an attractive 6” square frame that has a built in picture hanger and felt feet to be either hung on the wall or used as a trivet. By the end of this class you should be able to copy your designs in glass mosaic.
This class includes all materials and the use of our equipment while you are in the studio.
